About Sharie

Meet your Fairy DogMother

It all started when I was eight years old, with a new puppy and a book on how to train a dog. I trained my dog, then asked every neighbor on the street if I could teach theirs some tricks too.

I grew up on a working ranch, caring for horses, goats, pigs, chickens and more. As a teenager I worked at a kennel, volunteered at a vet's office, and fostered dogs and cats with special needs. Animal behavior has fascinated me ever since, and I still take courses and read the latest research.

For years I was "Aunt Sharie." As caring for dogs grew from a hobby into my profession, Fairy DogMother just fit. People tell me the dogs look at me with so much love, and I believe I get to make their lives a little more magical.

There's no one-size-fits-all. I build a relationship of trust and respect with every dog, meet them where they are, and guide them in a way they understand and feel comfortable with.

At home, my own pups help welcome every guest: Clyde, my 16-year-old Bichon mix, and Millie Mae, my 3-year-old mini Goldendoodle. That's Millie with the fairy at the top of the page!

How it works

From hello to happy tails

  1. Say hello

Send me a message below with a little about your pet and the dates you have in mind.

  2. Meet & greet

We meet at a local dog park, on neutral ground, for 20–30 minutes. I'll ask plenty of questions about eating, bathroom and sleeping habits, medications and allergies.

  3. Health records

I need a copy of vaccination records (rabies, DHPP and bordetella), up-to-date, vet-prescribed heartworm and flea/tick prevention, and an emergency contact who can make decisions if you can't be reached.

  4. Stay & updates

Drop-off and pick-up are by appointment, Monday–Friday, 7 AM–7 PM, with other times by arrangement. You'll get daily photos and videos.

A day in the pack

  1. EarlyPotty break, then a calm start
  2. MorningBreakfast, a rest, then structured play: nose work, hide and seek, tug, fetch
  3. MiddayRest and plenty of fresh-air breaks in the yard
  4. AfternoonMore play and enrichment toys, with a little "sit" and impulse-control practice
  5. EveningDinner, a last burst of play, a final potty break and bed

I work from home, so guests are supervised all day, with a potty break about every two hours.

Safety first

  • Backyard fully enclosed by a concrete wall
  • Gates between rooms and on outside doors
  • Every dog is fed separately
  • A quiet space for seniors, and a puppy-proof play area

If something's not right

  • I keep a close eye on every guest, and I'll let you know right away if anything seems off
  • I contact you first, then your emergency contact
  • Please give your vet my name as your pet's care provider
  • In an emergency, I go to your vet or mine if they're open, and an emergency vet if not

Good to know

  • Dogs up to 40 lbs; some breeds are restricted by my community's rules, so just ask
  • Spayed or neutered if over a year old; no females in heat or large-breed puppies
  • Guests must be friendly with people and other dogs
  • Bring your pet's food plus an extra day's worth, treats (no rawhides), and any medication with written instructions. I provide bedding, bowls, toys and crates.
  • Payment is due at or before drop-off, by cash or Zelle

Life changing! From the moment Sharie walked into my house she was fully focused on my dachshund… There has been a marked improvement with our dachshund, and we are amazed at how quickly her behavior has improved… She really knows her stuff!

Jill Y. · Dog training

Sharie is the most wonderful dog sitter ever. She is very professional and knowledgeable. My dog has separation anxiety and had the best experience… I highly recommend her.

Perri A. · Boarding

We appreciate Sharie so much for her kindness and diligence - she really cares so much for our cats - I literally would not go on vacation without her!!

Caroline M. · Cat visits

We are first time dog owners and were blown away by Sharie’s knowledge and professionalism! The way she adapted to our puppy’s individual behavior and needs in the moment was amazing and we really feel supported as we learn to communicate with her and teach her manners and boundaries.

Nicole N. · Puppy training

Sharie was so amazing with our puppies and gave them a comfortable environment to enjoy. My two pups have so much separation anxiety whenever I travel and they were able to let loose, play, snuggle and enjoy their time with Sharie even though we were gone for a week.

Andrea R. · Boarding

Sharie took the time to understand the unique personality of each schnauzer and tailored her methods to fit them perfectly. What felt like overwhelming challenges are now non-issues… look no further than Sharie, our “Fairy Dog Trainer!”

Kaitlyn M. · Leia & Ahsoka

Sharie was wonderful. Lots of good information in lots of different areas and practical tips on training and interaction. Highly recommend.
